The Crime Team
Our criminal lawyers have many years experience of representing clients in Police Stations, Courts and Tribunals throughout South Wales. Team leader Jeremy Bird has a reputation as a powerful and professional advocate and heads the team of three, all of whom are approved Police Station Advisers. Jeremy Bird, Maredudd Davies and Simon Bird are Court Advocates and Court Duty Solicitors. The team provides representation for clients at Police Stations and Courts 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
If you require advice at a Police Station it will be provided free of charge under the public funding scheme, regardless of your financial circumstances. On arrival at the Police Station you will be told that you are entitled to free and independent legal advice from a solicitor of your choice. Make sure that you ask for us - we will have a representative available who will attend without delay.
The Team specialise in all aspects of criminal and administrative law and not simply investigations by the Police. Some less obvious areas may include investigations and prosecutions by the following organisations:-
- Department of Work and Pensions (DWP)
- Local Authorities
- Trading Standards departments
- Licensing Authorities
We are authorised by the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) to provide publicly funded assistance (previously known as legal aid). At the outset of your case we will assess your eligibility for public funding. If you are not eligible for public funding we will explore other means of funding your representation.
